About Battlefords Treatment Centre

The Battlefords Treatment Centre is an extension of Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centre (PTLC), which is known as Canada’s first addictions treatment center specifically for Indigenous clients and has been in operation for more than 40 years. Poundmaker’s Lodge was named after Chief Poundmaker (Pitikwahanapiwiyin) of Saskatchewan, a prominent leader of the Treaty 6 territory, known for his wisdom and leadership.

The Establishment of Battlefords Treatment Centre

The Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) continue to support withdrawal management and inpatient addiction treatment spaces in the North Battleford area.

The former Drumming Hill Youth Centre, previously a correctional youth center, has been repurposed to provide 14 beds, with 5 dedicated to withdrawal management/detox. This 14-bed facility will offer essential inpatient addiction treatment for adults in North Battleford and the surrounding area. Its programming emphasizes Indigenous culture and spirituality, while also being inclusive of all cultures, traditions, and religions. Clients from diverse backgrounds are welcome.
